The power rating of the inverter determines how many appliances you can use at any one time. The power rating of the battery charger determines how quickly your battery bank can be recharged

There are 2 different type of inverters, Modified sine-wave inverters such as the DR series is very reliable
and efficient. Modfied sine wave inverters might not work well with some very delicate electronics and could shorten
life of motors on a long term basis ( short term for back-up power is fine). We used a DR series inverter to run our entire house continualy for 7 years running computers, motors, compressors, washers etc.. the only problem we had at
all was the portable Dewalt battery chargers and that was it!
Sine-wave inverters which in most cases are cleaner than regular utility grid power. The sine wave inverters are more
costly but are designed to run continualy with even the most delicate electronic loads.
There are many options that can be added on such as: extra batteries, solar panels, generator,
automatic generator start (when batteries get low) add another inverter on at a discount price, etc...
